About Me

About Whackamama Unplugged Hi, I’m Terri, the woman behind the madness of Whackamama Unplugged. If you’ve stumbled in here, welcome. If you’ve followed me before, thank you for coming back (even though I probably owe you a high five). I’m a mom to Abby, a 20-year-old with Rett syndrome, and if you’ve ever heard of it, you know it’s a whole different kind of world. The world where you learn to advocate, laugh when you want to cry, and become a professional at juggling way too much. Oh, and throw in some heavy doses of love, exhaustion, and caffeine. Lots and lots of caffeine. My life is far from picture-perfect. It’s a lot of real talk—about caregiving, chronic exhaustion, the occasional “what the hell just happened?” moment, and the kind of humor that gets you through the darkest days. I’m a fighter, a fixer, a caregiver, and a person. And this blog? It’s my way of being unapologetically me. You’ll find stories about Abby, for sure. But you’ll also find stories about me—the woman behind the scenes, trying to find herself amidst the chaos. Life with Abby is beautiful, heartbreaking, hilarious, and hard as hell. But it’s mine. It’s our story, and I’m here to share it all—unedited and unplugged. So buckle up. It’s going to be a wild ride. But hey, at least we’ll laugh along the way. – Terri (aka Whackamama)
